Dhaka, February 16: Comilla Victorians defeated Sylhet Strikers by 7 wickets to lift their fourth Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) title on Thursday (February 16) at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.

Although Sylhet Strikers rode on fifties from Mushfiqur Rahim and Najmul Hossain Shanto to set up a challenging target of 176 in BPL 2023 final, fifties from Johnson Charles and Litton Das along with Moeen Ali cameo powered Comilla Victorians to their second successive title.

Put into bat, Shanto (64 off 45 balls) and Mushfiqur (74 not out off 48 balls) took Sylhet Strikers to 175/7 in their allotted 20 overs. Mustafizur Rahman was the pick of the bowlers for Victorians with 2 wickets.

In response, Charles (79 not out off 52 balls), Das (55 off 39 balls) and Ali (25 not out off 17 balls) powered the Comilla Victorians past the target with 7 wickets in hand and 4 balls to spare. For Strikers, Rubel Hossain was the highest wicket-taker with 2 wickets.

This was the fourth meeting between the two sides this season. In the league stage, Sylhet Strikers beat Comilla Victorians by 5 wickets in the first fixture, while the Victorians claimed a victory by the same margin in the reverse fixture.

The two sides finished top of the BPL 2023 points table with 18 points each separated on Net Run Rate. So, they met in the Qualifier 1, where Comilla Victorians registered a 4-wicket win over Sylhet Strikers, who then defeated Rangpur Riders in Qualifier 2 by 19 runs to reach the final.
