Bangladesh created history on Tuesday (September 3) after winning the second Test in Rawalpindi by six wickets to register their first-ever Test series win against Pakistan.
Aided by the weather in Rawalpindi, Bangladesh chased down a 185-run target with six wickets in hand. Bad light and rain had forced early stumps on Day 4, and rain threat loomed on the final day as well. However, there was no interruption whatsoever, and the senior most members of Bangladesh cricket team - Mushfiqur Rahim, and Shakib Al Hasan were in the middle when the history was scripted.

On the final ball of the 66th over, Shakib dispatched a delivery from spinner Abrar Ahmed through extra cover to complete Bangladesh's 2-0 whitewash of Pakistan. Bangladesh had never beaten Pakistan in a Test match before the start of the series, and expectations were minimal from them when they landed in the country amid political chaos in their own homeland.
Bangladesh started from their overnight score of 42/0, and lost the wicket of Zakir Hasan (40) early. He was clean bowled by Mir Hamza in the sixth over of Day 5. His opener partner Shadman Islam (24) was dismissed by Khurram Shahzad, who picked six wickets in the first innings.
However, a 57-run stand for the third wicket between captain Najmul Hossain Shanto (38), and Mominul Haque (34) took Bangladesh to a safe zone.
Senior most Bangladesh batter Mushfiqur Rahim (22*), who smashed 191 runs in the first innings of the first Test, and veteran all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan (21*) forged an unbeaten 32-run partnership off 72 balls to ensure that their side cross the hurdle without any hiccups.
Notably, Bangladesh were reduced to 26/6 in the first innings before a hundred from Litton Das helped them finish at 262 in reply to Pakistan's 274 in the first innings. Pakistan were bundled out for 172 in the second innings after a five-fer from Hasan Mahmud, and four wickets from Nahid Rana. Both the pacers were playing only in their third Test match.
