No Shakib Al Hasan, but Najmul Hossain Shanto continues to lead side as Bangladesh announced their squad for the three-match ODI series against Afghanistan, scheduled to start on Wednesday (November 6) in UAE.
All-rounder Shakib, who also missed his farewell Test against South Africa which was played at Mirpur, is missing out on the Afghanistan ODI series due to less practice, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) chief Faruque Ahmed updated about the same earlier.

"After Shakib couldn't come to play his (farewell) Test, he wasn't doing much practice. I think he needs some time to regroup," Faruque said in a press conference. Shakib decided to give his farewell Test a miss due to the protests at home against him.
While Shakib was not included, Najmul is set to lead the side despite reports suggesting that the batter wanted to step down from captaincy post the Test series against South Africa.
However, a report from CricBuzz states that captaincy changes will be made soon with Mehidy Hasan, who is serving as deputy in the ODI series, favourite to lead the Test side, while Taskin Ahmed or Towhid Hridoy will lead the T20I squad.
Litton Kumer Das, who has failed to recover from illness, also misses out from the squad to face Afghanistan along with injured Tanzim Sakib. Anamul Haque, Taijul Islam and Hasan Mahmud also were left out of the squad.
Uncapped pacer Nahid Rana has been included, while Zakir Hasan and Nasum Ahmed also return for the series, scheduled to be held from November 6 to 11 at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium in the United Arab Emirates. Here is a look at the schedule and the squad:
