0-1 down, Bangladesh will look to level the series when they clash with Afghanistan in the 2nd ODI, which like the series opener, is set to take place at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury in Chattogram on Saturday (July 8).
Bangladesh led by Tamim Iqbal suffered a 17-run DLS method loss on Wednesday (July 5) in the truncated first ODI to Hashmatullah Shahidi-led Afghanistan, who responded well to the one-off Test defeat last month.

A day after the defeat, Bangladesh received a shocker after Tamim announced his retirement from international cricket with immediate effect. Rony Talukdar has been drafted into the squad to replace the former skipper, while Litton Das is set to takeover as the captain.
The pitches at the venue have assisted both batters and bowlers, especially the slower bowlers, like most wickets in Bangladesh. The last match at the venue saw Bangladesh batters struggle for runs although in rain-affected match.
The last few matches, however, have been a mixed bag as two matches saw a team register over 300 runs, while the remaining have seen teams struggle to get past 250. The average score batting first at the venue is 224 and batting second or chasing is 190.
So, captain winning the toss will not hesitate to put runs on the board and try to defend the total with slow bowlers. Both teams are stacked with spin bowling options. However, if there is rain like the last time, the skippers may want to know the target they will need to chase.
This will also be the fifth time that the two sides will meet at the venue. So, the visitors also will have experience of playing on the slow wickets, which have been mastered by the home side.
The last match witnessed interruptions due to weather. That may still be the case in the monsoon season as the country has seen showers since last month. So, will rain play spoilsport in the Bangladesh vs Afghanistan 2nd ODI?
According to Weather.com, there will be scattered thunderstorms overnight on Friday (July 7) continuing into the morning on Saturday (July 8) in Chattogram. The temperatures for the day will be a maximum of 30o C reducing to 26o C in the night.
