Champions Trophy 2025, BAN vs NZ Highlights: Rachin Ravindra Powers New Zealand To 5-Wicket Victory

By MyKhel Staff

BAN vs NZ, Champions Trophy 2025, As It Happened: New Zealand defeated Bangladesh by five wickets in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 Group A match at Rawalpindi. Opting to bowl first, the Kiwis restricted Bangladesh to 236/9 in 50 overs. Najmul Hossain Shanto top-scored with 77 off 110, while Jaker Ali's late 45* provided some resistance. Michael Bracewell (4/26) led New Zealand's bowling attack, well supported by Matt Henry and Kyle Jamieson.

Chasing 237, New Zealand had a shaky start, losing Will Young and Kane Williamson early. However, Devon Conway (30), Rachin Ravindra (112 off 105), and Tom Latham (55) anchored the innings. Ravindra's brilliant century took the game away from Bangladesh as Glenn Phillips and Bracewell ensured a comfortable finish in 46.1 overs. Taskin Ahmed and Nahid Rana took one wicket each, but Bangladesh couldn't contain New Zealand's batters.

Rawalpindi last hosted ODIs in April 2023, where Pakistan successfully chased down targets of 337 and 289 against New Zealand with ease. Since 2010, the venue has seen five ODIs, producing seven individual centuries in that span. With the first Champions Trophy match set to be played here, another high-scoring contest is likely. Of the five ODIs played, three have been won by teams batting first, while one ended in a tie.

BAN vs NZ Live Score: Pakistan Might Lose Out On Qualification Even If BAN Win!

Even if Bangladesh manage to beat New Zealand today in Rawalpindi, Pakistan might still have an outside chance of not making it to the semis due to outside factors. If BAN beat NZ today and IND beat NZ, PAK need a victory against the Tigers to qualify. But there is a huge chance of rainfall on Thursday in Rawalpindi and if there is a wash-out, PAK will be eliminated and a victory for IND over NZ mean BAN will qualify instead.

BAN vs NZ Live Score: Hello and Welcome!

Hello and Welcome to our live coverage of this crucial Champions Trophy 2025 match between Bangladesh and New Zealand from Rawalpindi!

Having already defeated Pakistan by 60 runs in their opening fixture, a second consecutive win would take New Zealand to four points, equalling India's tally after their triumphs over Bangladesh and Pakistan.

New Zealand have been in fine form, remaining unbeaten in the tri-series featuring Pakistan and South Africa before once again overcoming Pakistan in the Champions Trophy. Meanwhile, the Bangla Tigers suffered a six-wicket defeat against India in their opening match. Despite New Zealand being the clear favorites on paper, Bangladesh have the potential to spring a surprise, especially in these conditions.

The pitches in Pakistan have been favorable for batters, and another high-scoring surface is expected for the upcoming match. So far, teams have found it relatively easy to post totals exceeding 300 in games played here, and a similar benchmark could be considered par once again.
