Ban vs Pak: Tait On Rana

When asked about the performance of Nahid Rana in the first innings, the former Australian great said, "As for Rana, I think he has a point to prove. It's good to see him getting an opportunity early in the series in the first game. When a player performs like that, it certainly puts his name in front of the selectors. If he continues to deliver performances like this whenever he gets the chance, hopefully we'll see a lot more of him in the future."

Pak vs Ban Live 1st ODI: Shaun Tait On Team's Bowling

Shaun Tait, the former Australian bowler and the current bowling coach of Bangladesh said after the first innings, "It's obviously a great start to the series with the ball. We're only halfway through the game with another innings to come, but you really couldn't ask for much more than that from the bowlers. The new ball did the job early on, and it was nice to see a bit of assistance in the wicket at the start of the innings.

"The conditions seemed to offer something for everyone. Even the spinner-our skipper-bowled really well at the other end, hitting good lengths and getting some help from the surface. Hopefully, the pitch now plays nicely for our batters when they go out there," he added.

Pak vs Ban: 1st Innings Analysis

Pakistan suffered a dramatic batting collapse, getting bowled out for just 114 in a difficult outing away from home. The innings started steadily with a promising 41-run opening partnership, but the momentum shifted completely after the first wicket fell. From there, the middle order crumbled under pressure, losing wickets in quick succession and failing to build meaningful partnerships.

Amid the collapse, Faheem Ashraf provided the only resistance, scoring a fighting 37 to push Pakistan's total to 114 while wickets continued to fall at the other end.

For Bangladesh, pacer Nahid Rana delivered a sensational spell, tearing through the batting lineup to claim a superb five-wicket haul. He received strong support from captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who maintained tight control and picked up three crucial wickets in front of the home crowd.

The bowling effort was further strengthened by contributions from Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman, who chipped in with a wicket each to wrap up the tail quickly.

Pakistan's middle and lower order struggled badly, producing a disappointing batting display that left their dugout stunned. It was a clinical all-round performance from the Bangladesh bowlers, who now leave their batters with a modest target of 115 to chase.

BAN vs PAK 1st ODI LIVE Updates: Cautious start for visitors

Pakistan made a cautious start in the opening exchanges of the first ODI in Dhaka, with openers Sahibzada Farhan and Maaz Sadaqat focusing on survival against Bangladesh's disciplined new-ball attack. Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman kept things tight early on, restricting scoring opportunities and forcing the batters to play watchfully. Pakistan moved to around 31 without loss in the first nine overs, with Farhan looking the more fluent of the pair, striking a few boundaries to keep the scoreboard ticking, while Sadaqat played a supporting role at the other end. The Bangladesh pacers maintained good lines and lengths, but the opening partnership ensured Pakistan negotiated the initial phase without losing a wicket.

Bangladesh vs Pakistan 1st ODI Toss Updates

Bangladesh won the toss and opted to field first.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz (Bangladesh captain):"We would love to bowl first. There might be some help later in the evening and we feel chasing could work well for us. We have a very good bowling attack and if we can get early wickets in the first ten overs, it will definitely help our cause.

A good start to the series is very important and everyone in the team is excited. Playing a home series always brings extra motivation. If we can win today, it will be a great moment for us.

We're going with a balanced combination - three fast bowlers, two spinners and six batters, which we believe suits the conditions."

Shaheen Shah Afridi (Pakistan captain): "We would have loved to bat first on this track. The main reason is that we have a few debutants and I didn't want to put them under pressure chasing. If they bat first, they can play freely and we'll support them.

I'm really excited about these youngsters. They've looked very good in the nets and have performed consistently in domestic cricket, so as a team we're looking forward to seeing them perform for Pakistan for a long time.

A winning start is always important. As a captain, it gives you more freedom going forward. We just want to go with the flow and give our best today. I feel a score around 270-280 would be a good target on this pitch."
