In preparations for the T20 World Cup 2024 later this year, Bangladesh will host Sri Lanka in a three-match series next week at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium in Sylhet.

Bangladesh last played in the T20 format in December last year when they drew an away series 1-1 against New Zealand after one of the matches in the three-match series finished in no result.

Sri Lanka, on the other hand, have won two home series 2-1 since the start of the year against Zimbawe and Afghanistan respectively during the months of January and February.

While Bangladesh led by Najmul Hossain Shanto will be without their star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan for the whole series, the visitors will be without their skipper Wanindu Hasaranga for the first two matches following his suspension.

Sri Lanka will be led by Charith Asalnka for the opening two games with Hasaranga returning to take charge in the final match of the series. The visitors have also recalled wicketkeeper-batter Niroshan Dickwella for the first time since 2021 to replace injured Kusal Janith Pereira.
