Bangladesh are experiencing their best performance in the World Test Championship (WTC) so far. They have clinched a historic series win over Pakistan on Tuesday (September 3).

With the victory, the Tigers currently sit 4th in the WTC table with a PCT of 45.83 %. After the conclusion of the series against Pakistan, Bangladesh have a realistic chance to qualify for the Final of this WTC cycle.

Upcoming Tours and Challenges

Bangladesh's upcoming schedule includes a tour to India, followed by a visit to the Caribbean to face the West Indies, and then hosting South Africa at home. Each of these tours involves two Tests.

How can Bangladesh qualify for WTC Final?

For Bangladesh to maintain their position or improve further, consistent performances in their upcoming matches are crucial. Their recent success has provided a significant boost, but sustaining this momentum will be key to securing more victories and climbing higher in the rankings.

India qualified for the WTC final from the second position behind Australia with a percentage points (PCT) of 58.2%. Assuming this as the benchmark for the current edition, Bangladesh would need an additional 52 points from their remaining six Tests. Achieving this would require a combination of four wins and a draw, whereas five wins will further solidify their position in the points table.

They also would require point drops for either Australia or New Zealand in order to qualify for the Final. Bangladesh won't play either of the Oceanian countries and will be hoping for India's aid as Rohit Sharma's men take a trip down under.

With half of their cycle still remaining, Bangladesh have ample opportunities to secure more points and enhance their position further. Two teams will qualify for the final at the end of this WTC cycle.
