BCA signs MoU with MSU to prepare cricket ground
Vadodara, July 12 (UNI) The Baroda Cricket Association (BCA) has signed an MoU with the premier Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda (MSU) to develop its cricket ground with a view to promote cricket in the university campus.
Under the agreement, said to be the first of its kind in the country, BCA would bear all expenses for relaying the pitch, provide curators and coach to train the budding talents, and maintain this historic cricket ground for a period of three years.
According to BCA sources, once the university ground is ready, it would be eligible to host inter-university and all BCCI-sponsored tournaments by the end of the year.
The BCA, which has proposed to invest Rs 8 lakh per annum to maintain the ground, would also sponsor the University cricket and bear all expenses of the MSU team to take part in any tournament.
In 1984-85, former cricketer Sanajay Manjrekar set a record by hitting six consecutive centuries in an inter-university tournament played at this ground which had also witnessed great cricketers like Sunil Gavaskar, Dilip Vengsarkar and Sandip Patil in action, BCA sources said.
