New Delhi, Aug 11 (UNI) The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) today announced a cash award of Rs 25 lakh to ace shooter Abhinav Bindra for the first-ever gold medal in any individual event in 108-years of Indian Olympic history.
Bindra clinched the gold medal in the men's 10-metre air rifle event at the Beijing Olympics.
''Hearty congratulations to Abhinav Bindra for winning India's first-ever individual gold medal at the Olympics. He has done the country proud. His achievement heralds a new era for Indian sport,'' BCCI President Sharad Pawar said in a statement.
