Australia Women's tour of India: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially unveiled the schedule for the much-anticipated Women’s ODI home series against Australia.
Mark your calendars — from 14th to 20th September, the iconic MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai will be the battleground for three thrilling 50-over clashes between two modern-day giants of women’s cricket.

The Chepauk, a venue steeped in cricketing folklore, is all set to host a Women’s ODI after a staggering 17-year hiatus. The last time the stadium witnessed women’s 50-over action was during the 2007 quadrangular series featuring India, Australia, England and New Zealand. Since then, while the stadium has hosted memorable T20Is and a historic Test between India and South Africa last year, this series marks a nostalgic and powerful return for the women’s ODI format.
With the Women’s ODI World Cup on the horizon, both India and Australia will use this series as a crucial dress rehearsal. Australia, reigning world champions, bring firepower and depth. But India, under Harmanpreet Kaur’s seasoned leadership, have shown considerable grit in recent months.
The Women in Blue began their year on a high, defeating Ireland in a home series before conquering the tri-series in Sri Lanka, where they beat the hosts in a commanding final. One of the brightest revelations has been Pratika Rawal, who smashed records to become the fastest Indian woman to 500 ODI runs. Her rise has added a spark to India’s top order.
India's ODI squad has gone through an exciting transition. Several promising names have made their debuts recently, adding new dimensions to the squad. All-rounder Kashvee Gautam, crafty left-armers Sree Charani and Shuchi Upadhyay, and pacer Kranti Goud all made headlines during the Sri Lanka tour.
Since last year’s T20 World Cup in the UAE, eight more players have earned their ODI caps, showcasing the depth of India’s talent pool. Youngsters like Tejal Hasabnis and Titas Sadhu are now pushing for regular spots.
Before locking horns with Australia, the Indian team will tour England in June and July. The schedule features five T20Is followed by three ODIs, serving as a perfect international warm-up. Shafali Verma returns to the national fold for the T20 leg, while Sneh Rana, fresh off her Player of the Series award in Sri Lanka, is also back in action.
With rising stars, returning legends, and the World Cup countdown officially underway, this series promises to be a blockbuster. Chennai fans, get ready to cheer your hearts out — Women’s ODI cricket is back in style, and it’s bringing world-class drama to your doorstep!
