BCCI backs Kohli, says 'no abusive language was used' on journalist

Perth, Mar 4: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has entered to control the damage done by Virat Kohli after he reportedly abused an Indian journalist yesterday (March 3). Now, BCCI today claimed "no abusive language was used" by the Indian vice-captain.

On Tuesday, Kohli lost his cool and "abused" an Indian journalist after the team's training at Murdoch University in Perth. According to Press Trust of India (PTI) news agency report, Kohli used "filthiest of language" against the scribe mistaking him for another person. (Kohli uses 'filthiest of language')

The reporter who was at the receiving end of Kohli's ire has in detail written about the incident. However, BCCI's media manager RN Baba, in an e-mail to the travelling Indian media contingent in Australia, has denied the "abusive" part.

In a brief e-mail with the subject "Clarity on yesterday incident", Baba wrote, "There was a misunderstanding and no abusive language was used, Virat has spoken to the concerned gentlemen immediately and matter ends."

Whether the "matter ends" here and will carry on, we will have to wait and watch.

Meanwhile, India will play their next World Cup match against West Indies on Friday (March 6) in Perth. They have won three successive matches so far, against Pakistan, South Africa and United Arab Emirates (UAE).
