The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is set to roll out its much-anticipated central contracts for the 2024-25 cycle, and some familiar names continue to dominate the top bracket.
According to sources close to the developments, Indian stalwarts Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are all set to retain their A+ grade contracts worth Rs 7 crore, reaffirming their stature in the national setup even after stepping away from the T20 format.

Despite murmurs around a possible reshuffle post-retirement from T20Is, the duo's continued relevance in ODIs and Tests ensures their place at the very top of the bracket. Along with them, Jasprit Bumrah is likely to receive the same status in the payscale.
In a significant comeback, Shreyas Iyer, who top-scored for India in the recent ICC Champions Trophy -looks all set to return to the central contract list after being omitted last year. Iyer's resurgence in form and consistency across formats has pushed his case strongly, making his reintegration almost inevitable.
All-rounder Axar Patel, meanwhile, is tipped for a deserved promotion. The left-arm spinner played a pivotal role in India's unbeaten campaigns in both the T20 World Cup and Champions Trophy, proving his mettle with both bat and ball.
The BCCI's contract list is also expected to feature some fresh faces this year. Varun Chakaravarthy, Nitish Kumar Reddy and Abhishek Sharma - each of whom has impressed in different formats over the last year are likely to be rewarded with their first-ever central contracts. It is likely that the trio will be offered a C Contract for this financial year.
One notable omission likely to continue this year is wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan. Despite being in the spotlight over the last couple of seasons, Kishan-who was left out of the contract list last year along with Iyer. The Jharkhand played made a positive start to IPL 2025 but that won't warrant his return in the BCCI contract setup.
