BCCI defers selection of team for Australia tour

Bangalore, Dec 5 (UNI) Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) today deferred the selection of the Indian team for the Australia tour, to December 12 due to injury to front line bowlers.

Cricket Board Secretary Niranjan Shah told newspersons after the more than 90 minute meeting of the Selection Committee ''due to injury to many players, the Committee has decided to postpone the selection of the team for Australia, to December 12.'' ''However, the Committee has selected 24 probables, from which the final 16 would be selected on the final day of the third test against Pakistan here for the four test matches against Australia'', he added.

Physio John Gloster was understood to have given a complete picture about the players' fitness, to the Selection Committee members and the decision to postpone the selection was taken on that basis.
