BCCI donated Rs 2.25 crores for gym equipment at Constitution Club of India last year

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to donate Rs 2.25 crores towards the purchase of gym equipment for the Constitution Club of India (CCI). The club is used by present and past parliamentarians as a platform for interaction.

According to the minutes from an Apex Council meeting held on December 21, 2022, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah informed the members about CCI's request for funds.

After negotiations on cost and availability, a final quote was submitted to BCCI, amounting to Rs 2.27 crores. It was suggested that a lump sum donation of Rs 2.25 crores be made directly to CCI for the purchase of gym equipment.

Based on the negotiation on the cost and availability of the documents, a final quote was submitted to the BCCI, which provided a final cost of Rs 2.27 crores. In this regard, it is suggested that a lump sum of Rs 2.25 crores be donated to CCI directly towards the purchase of gym equipment.

The minutes further state that the members took note of this update and approved the donation towards purchasing gym equipment. The decision was documented on the BCCI website.

The Constitution Club Of India, located in Delhi's Vithal Bhai Patel House, was established in February 1947 with the aim of fostering social contacts among members of the Indian Constituent Assembly. It has now become a prominent platform for interaction between past and present parliamentarians.

The club is led by Om Birla, the speaker of the Lok Sabha, who serves as its president. Harivansh Singh holds the position of general secretary, while Hardeep Singh Puri, Union Minister of Urban Development, is the vice president. Rajiv Shukla, BCCI vice-president and Congress party's Rajya Sabha MP, serves as the sports secretary at CCI.
