BCCI files case against Dalmiya for misappropriation of PILCOM funds

Mumbai, Sep 27 (UNI) The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has filed a court case against former President Jagmohan Dalmiya, who attended the board's annual general meeting, his first since 2005, on September 23 here for misappropriation of the PILCOM World Cup funds.

Addressing a press conference after the annual general meeting here today, the newly elected President Shashank Manohar said the issue of misappropriation of funds by Dalmiya did not come up at the meeting.

Manohar, however, revealed that a court case against the former BCCI chief, who attended today's AGM as the president of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), has been filed in Mumbai on September 23 for recovery of Rs 47 crore that he is alleged to have misappropriated from the PILCOM World Cup accounts of 1996.

''The suit has been filed in Mumbai on September 23. It has not yet come up for hearing. The accounts were passed unanimously and you can draw your own conclusion,'' Manohar said.

Dalmiya has been facing a slew of cases for misappropriation since he was voted out of power from BCCI three years back.

Joint Commissioner (Crime) Rakesh Maria had said on Monday that Indian income tax authorities had slapped 64 cases in connection with PILCOM's account operated from London.

PILCOM was the organising committee of the 1996 World Cup hosted jointly by Pakistan, India and Sri Lanka.

Dalmiya however has refuted the allegations and said it was ''the old game plan of my adversaries.'' ''Whenever something happens in cricket politics, they resort to such action to settle scores with me,'' he had stated in Kolkata recently.
