BCCI gives in; Status quo in contract, no cap on endorsements
New Delhi, June 12 (UNI) In a move that will bring a huge relief to the Indian cricketers, the BCCI today decided to maintain status quo in the existing contracts for another three months ending September 30 this year.
''Since nine months have already elapsed in the present contract, we have decided to extend it by another three months. The earlier contract will continue till September this year,'' BCCI Treasurer N Srinivasan announced at media conference here.
The most important aspect of this decision is that cricketers will not be limited to three endorsements.
On the new contract, Srinivasan said ''For next year's contract which will run from October 1 this year to September 30, 2008, we will sit with the players to formulate the terms and conditions.'' The present contract runs from October 1, 2006 to September 30 this year.
