BCCI hints on taking' necessary' action against defiant Kapil

New Delhi, July 10 (UNI) The BCCI has hinted it would take ''necessary'' action against NCA chairman Kapil Dev for joining rebel league, the Essel Group-backed Indian Cricket League (ICL), board vice-president Rajeev Shukla said today.

''We don't recognise the ICL. We had a metting of the BCCI working committee last month and a resolution was passed. If there is any violation of the resolution of the working comittee, we'll check the same and look into the constitutional provisions of the BCCI,'' he said adding that necessary action would be taken against offenders.

The former India captain yesterday dared the BCCI to take action against him for joining the rebel league.

Kapil, who joined the ICL's executive board as its chairman, told a news channel that he was not perturbed by a recent letter from the BCCI asking him not to associate himself with the rebel league.

''I have already sent my reply to them. They can remove me from the NCA if they want to,'' he told 'Aaj Tak' news channel.

He said he would not budge from his position as he was doing nothing wrong but only contributing to the game.

''They wanted me to contribute to the game of cricket, and I am just doing that, so they can not challenge me,'' he said.

Kapil also said he was not losing his sleep over the BCCI decision to discontinue pensions for former players joining ICL.

''I did not go to them asking for pension, and if they want to stop it, what can I do? Let them stop it,'' said the country's only World Cup-winning captain.

Kapil also said he did not consider the ICL as a potential rival to BCCI.

Former selection committee chairman Kiran More had also recently resigned from the post of secretary Baroda Cricket Association to join the ICL board.
