BCCI increases duration of U-19, U-22 tourneys to four days
Mumbai, Jun 22 (UNI) The Tour and Fixtures committee of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) which met recently has finalised the domestic programme for the year 2007-08 with some important changes in the itinerary.
The Chief Administrative Officer of the BCCI Prof Ratnakar Shetty in a release stated that among the changes made has been to discontinue the under-19 Inter Zonal one day tournament for the Vijay Hazare trophy. The Vijay Hazare trophy will now be awarded to the winners of the Ranji one-day champions.
Among the other changes finalised are that all matches in the under-19 Cooch Behar Trophy and the under-22 Col C K Nayudu Trophy will be of 4 days duration instead of the earlier three days.
The Committee has also decided to conduct the under-15 Polly Umrigar Trophy tournament from the 2008-09 season on the ELite and Plate format.
The Committee has also decided to start a tournament for under-19 age group and a senior women's tournament, the release added.
