BCCI knew I was part of Pune bid: Chirayu Amin

By Samyuktha

New Delhi, Jun 5: The interim Indian Premier League (IPL) chairman Chirayu Amin has rubbished the scathing accusation slapped against him by the suspended IPL commissioner, Lalit Modi, saying that he did participate in a bid for Pune team but only after informing the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) about it.

"I was approached by a group of businessmen to join them in the consortium to bid for the Pune franchise. I agreed to invest upto 10 per cent from one of our associate companies," Amin said.

"Before participating in the bid I wrote a letter to President, BCCI Shashank Manohar in this regard and also stated in my letter that further clearance would be taken from BCCI before investing in case the bid was successful," he added stressing that there was complete transparency.

The newly appointed interim IPL chairman's name was dragged into the months-long IPL controversy when Modi claimed that Amin was a member of the consortium headed by Aniruddha Deshpande, Managing Director of City Corporation, which bid for the Pune franchise in Mar 2010 but failed to win the team.

"There were three members in the consortium that was part of the bid. They were Aniruddha, Akruti and Chirayu Amin," Modi had stated.
