The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) lost its blue tick certification on Twitter (renamed as X recently) on August 13 hours before the start of India's fifth T20I match against West Indies in Lauderhill, Florida, on Sunday, confusing fans on the social media platform.
It was eventually discovered, however, that it was due to the Indian cricket board responding to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "unique" appeal on Sunday morning.

Notably, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had urged all Indian citizens to join the '#HarGharTiranga movement' by changing their display picture on social media platforms to the Indian tricolor ahead of India's 76th Independence Day on August 15. PM Modi did the same, and the BCCI followed suit later that day.
"In the spirit of the #HarGharTiranga movement, let us change the DP of our social media accounts and extend support to this unique effort which will deepen the bond between our beloved country and us," PM Modi tweeted.
The blue tick for a verified user gets removed each time the user updates the display photo, according to Twitter's revised criteria. After a cursory examination of the account on X, it just takes three to four days to restore.
