BCCI names squad for Sri Lanka Test series

Mumbai, Jul 8 (UNI) The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) today named a 16-member squad for the three-Test series in Sri Lanka starting on July 23.

Yuvraj Singh, Irfan Pathan and Wasim Jaffer were left out of the squad while youngsters Rohit Sharma and Pragyan Ojha have been handed their first break.

Delhi batsman Gautam Gambhir will open the batting along with Virender Sehwag.

Wicketkeeper-batsman Parthiv Patel will replace ODI skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

The squad: Anil Kumble (captain), Virender Sehwag, Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, Saurav Ganguly, Vangipurappu Laxman, Gautam Gambhir, Harbhajan Singh, Ishant Sharma, Zaheer Khan, Rudra Pratap Singh, Munaf Patel, Rohit Sharma, Dinesh Karthik, Pragyan Ojha, Parthiv Patel.
