'Did he play for country': TN politician raises question on BCCI secretary Jay Shah

By MyKhel Staff

Tamil Nadu chief minister MK Stalin's son Udhayanidhi Stalin has raised questions on nepotism in the Indian cricket board and asked about the legitimacy of the elections at the apex body of Indian cricket.

India's home minister Amit Shah recently accused DMK (Dravid Munnetra Kazhagam) as a dynasty party and said the party and the workers are only concerned about making Udhayanidhi the next chief minister of Tamil Nadu.

Udhayanidhi currently works as the Minister for Youth Welfare and Sports Development of Tamil Nadu and is the son of current CM MK Stalin, and grandson of former Tamil Nadu CM Karunanidhi.

But after the allegations from the home minister, Udhayanidhi has taken a direct dig at Amit Shah and raised questions on Jay Shah's post in the BCCI.

Jay Shah is at the pinnacle of Indian cricket and is currently holding the post of secretary. He is the son of India's home minister Amit Shah and Uadyanidhi asked the basis of his election as the secretary of BCCI.

"Amit Shah has said that our party leaders aim to make me the Chief Minister. But, I want to ask Amit Shah, how did your son become the secretary of BCCI?" Udahyanidhi asked.

"Did he play for the country? And how many runs did he score?" Udhayanidhi further added.

Jay Shah became the BCCI secretary back in 2019 for a one and half year stint. He was then appointed as the president of Asian Cricket Council in 2021.
