As Hype Around Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Explodes, BCCI Takes Unusual Step
The BCCI has decided to allow Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's parents to travel with him during India's upcoming tour of Ireland and England, recognising the unique challenges facing the 15-year-old as he prepares for his first assignment with the senior national team.
The decision comes just days after Sooryavanshi became the youngest player ever selected in an Indian men's squad, breaking a 36-year-old record previously held by Sachin Tendulkar.

According to BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia, the board believes family support will be crucial as the teenager adapts to life on the international circuit.
"As he is a child, we have decided to allow his parents to accompany him to Ireland and England, so that they can be with him and help him settle in the new environment. The Board will cover all their expenses," Saikia told Sportstar.

The move inevitably draws comparisons with Tendulkar's historic India debut in Pakistan in 1989. Then just 16 years old, the batting prodigy travelled with his elder brother Ajit, who played a pivotal role in helping him navigate the pressures of international cricket.
Thirty-seven years later, Indian cricket finds itself nurturing another teenage sensation.
While Tendulkar arrived as a promising youngster, Sooryavanshi enters the national setup amid unprecedented hype following a record-breaking IPL 2026 campaign.
Why the BCCI stepped in
Sooryavanshi is currently representing India A in Sri Lanka's tri-nation tournament, but board officials reportedly felt that the growing spotlight surrounding the youngster required additional support.
The Bihar batter has gone from promising prospect to national phenomenon in a matter of months.
After smashing 776 runs at a staggering strike rate of 237.30 during IPL 2026, he forced his way into India's T20I plans and became impossible for selectors to ignore.
However, with the attention comes pressure.
Every innings, every dismissal and every milestone is likely to be scrutinised as India begins preparing a new generation of players for the 2028 T20 World Cup and the Los Angeles Olympics.
The presence of his parents is expected to provide a sense of normalcy as Sooryavanshi takes his first steps into senior international cricket.
From IPL breakout star to India's youngest international hopeful
The teenager's support system has already been a major talking point throughout his rapid rise.
During his breakthrough season with Rajasthan Royals, Sooryavanshi was often seen alongside team manager Romi Bhinder, whom he viewed as a mentor and guardian figure within the franchise setup.
Now, as he transitions to the Indian team environment, that circle of support will expand further.
The Ireland T20I series begins on June 26, with Sooryavanshi expected to be one of the main attractions of the tour. Depending on India A's progress in Sri Lanka, he and newly-appointed India T20I captain Tilak Varma could also leave the tri-series before the final to join the senior squad.
For the BCCI, the message is clear: while Sooryavanshi's talent may already be international level, they want to ensure the teenager's transition to the biggest stage is handled with as much care as possible.
