BCCI to decide on IPL host by Tuesday night: Modi

New Delhi, Mar 24 (ANI): The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is likely to decide on the venue to host the Indian Premier League (IPL) season two matches by Tuesday night.

Shortly before leaving for Johannesburg on Monday, IPL Chairman Lalit Modi told a news channel in Mumbai, "We need to take a decision by tomorrow, one way or the other and we will have a decision by tomorrow night."

"We have two schedules and we got all the dates. The first schedule will start on April 10 and the second on April 17," he said.

Either South Africa or England would be hosting the IPL Twenty20 competition.

Asked about the higher possibility of South Africa to host the matches due to the inability of Lords to host the inaugural match on April 10, Modi said, "I don't think it is true...Tomorrow night we will have an answer."

He pointed out that England had eight locations and connectivity was a good factor there.

Blaming the state government's dismissive attitude towards providing security during the matches, the BCCI, on March 22 had announced that none of the Indian Premier League (IPL) season two matches would be held in India.

The decision came after the working committee of the BCCI held an emergency meeting in Mumbai to discuss matters related to this year's IPL matches and determine a course of action that would be acceptable to all the stakeholders and the Union Home Ministry.

The IPL tournament is scheduled to be held from April 10 to May 24. (ANI)
