BCCI to felicitate Jammu & Kashmir Ranji Trophy Winning Team in Mumbai on Monday

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is set to honour the Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) Ranji Trophy-winning team with a special felicitation ceremony in Mumbai on Monday, March 2, 2026.

This comes hot on the heels of J&K's historic maiden Ranji Trophy triumph on February 28, 2026, where they defeated eight-time champions Karnataka by virtue of a commanding 291-run first-innings lead in the final at Hubballi.

The team, captained by Paras Dogra, scripted a remarkable underdog story, overcoming challenges and ending a 67-year wait for the title.

MyKhel understands that the players will fly to Mumbai from Hubbali on Sunday afternoon for the event. BCCI President Mithun Manhas, who has longstanding ties to J&K cricket and was hoisted by the players in celebration at the venue, and ICC Chairman Jay Shah are anticipated to attend, alongside other BCCI officials.

This function will celebrate the squad's grit, including standout performers like Auqib Nabi, who has been a revelation and was the Player of the Series with 60 wickets. Apart from him, the collective effort of the entire team saw them beat powerhouses along the way.

Shubham Pundir was the Player of the Match in the final, while the amazing back story of Qamran Iqbal epitomizes the grit in the side. Iqbal, who was called up for the final just 12 hours, took a late night flight from Srinagar and came to Hubli via Mumbai just 30 minutes before the start of the first day. And in a fairytale ending, he ended up scoring an unbeaten 160 in the second innings to ensure there were no hiccups. The likes of Abid Mushtaq, Sunil Kumar have been terrific as well, while Paras Dogra has led the team brilliantly.

Abdul Samad, a player known for his T20 batting, showcased immense patience and racked up 748 runs in this Ranji season, typifying their class and quality this campaign.

India hail J&K Cricket Team

The win has already drawn massive praise from PM Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, J&K CM Omar Abdullah, who announced a ₹2 crore cash reward and government jobs for the team, and Indian cricket legends across the country.

This Mumbai felicitation adds another layer of recognition from the national board, highlighting how J&K's success is inspiring cricket's growth in the region. The players are expected to leave for their respective homes on Monday and Tuesday. Auqib Nabi and Abdul Samad are set to fly back home but will return and join their respective IPL teams ahead of the new season.
