Chittagong, May 19 (UNI) BCCI Secretary Niranjan Shah, while denying that the board's top brass has come here to talk to Bangladesh coach Dav Whatmore, today said the Coach Selection Committee will meet in Bangalore on June 4 and the name would be finalised within the next four days.
On his arrival to the port city of Chittagong, where it has been raining since last night putting on hold a dual century from Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly, board Secretary Niranjan Shah said, ''We have come here on BCB's invitation to watch the game. We had come here hoping to see Sourav (Ganguly) and Sachin (Tendulkar) score a century.'' Mr Shah further said, ''We have not come here to talk to Dav Whatmore. The coach's committee will meet on June four to select the coach. The process should be completed within the next three four days.'' Asked if Whatmore was in the contention, he said, ''It will not be right to talk about this now as the series was mid-way. The committee will decide everything. But we have a lot of names.'' On the urgency of coach selection as the team was due to leave for Ireland on June 20, he said, ''That's the reason we plan to complete everything by June 10 and then have a camp for five days in Bangalore before going off for the trip.'' Later Media Committee President Rajiv Shukla added, ''Yes there are a few names. The BCCI is approaching it with an open mind.
However, considering the availability of the best coaches Dav (Whatmore) is certainly a frontrunner.'' A four member BCCI team arrived here on a Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) invitation consisting of President Sharad Pawar and Professor Shetty, besides Niranjan Shah and Rajiv Shukla.
