Kolkata, Apr 21 (UNI) The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will request the International Cricket Council (ICC) to incorporate Indian Premier League's Twenty-20 series into its annual calendar.
In a published report here, Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Niranjan Shah said, ''The BCCI would soon write to the ICC in Dubai to make the IPL an annual feature in world cricket so that it would enable home and overseas players to take part in the shorter version of cricket.'' Mr Shah also suggested that instead of auctioning players every year, the IPL should consider the option of a contractual arrangement of at least three years.
The inaugural programme of the IPL heralded a new system of payment for cricketers that saw auctioning of players that not only benefitted a large section of the present, former as well as upcoming players, but also brought Indian's entertainment industry and Sports together on one platform, brining a fresh new package of entertainment to the people.
