England captain Ben Stokes shockingly revealed on Wednesday (October 30) that his home was burgled while he was away on a tour in Pakistan.
His wife and two children were present during the incident. Although they were unharmed physically, Stokes mentioned the emotional and mental toll it took on them.

In a social media post, Stokes detailed the burglary that occurred on 17 October in Castle Eden.
"On the evening of Thursday 17 October a number of masked people burgled my home in the Castle Eden area in the north east. They escaped with jewellery, other valuables and a good deal of personal items. Many of those items have real sentimental value for me and my family. They are irreplaceable," a post from Ben Stokes wrote on X.
The cricketer expressed his distress over the incident happening while his family was at home. He appealed for assistance in identifying the burglars, emphasizing the emotional impact on his family rather than just the loss of possessions.
"This is an appeal for any help in finding these people who carried out this act. By far the worst thing about this crime is that it was carried out whilst my wife and 2 young children were in the house. Thankfully, none of my family came to any physical harm. Understandably, however, the experience has had an impact on their emotional and mental state. All we can think about is how much worse this situation could have been," the post from Stokes added.
Stokes shared images of stolen items, including his OBE medal awarded in 2020 after England's World Cup victory. Other stolen items included a handbag, ring, and necklaces. Despite losing these cherished possessions, Stokes clarified that his main aim is to catch those responsible.
He urged anyone with information to contact Durham constabulary and thanked the police for their "outstanding" efforts. "They continue to work incredibly hard in trying to find these people," he added.
The events of burglary and stealing have increased across England in the past few years, and star players have been victims of this. Newcastle United footballer Alexander Isak's house was broken and Tottenham Hotspur's Yves Bissouma were mugged recently.
