By MyKhel Staff

Sobisco Smashers Malda has clinched a spot in the semifinals of the Bengal Pro T20 league. They secured a narrow two-run win over Harbour Diamonds at Eden Gardens on Saturday (June 22).

Harbour Diamonds, unfortunately, has faced their sixth consecutive defeat this season. They remain at the bottom of the points table without any points and are already eliminated from the inaugural season of the Bengal Pro T20.

Sobisco Smashers Malda

Writtick Chatterjee shone with 37 runs off 21 balls and took 2-25. Ayan Bhattacharjee contributed an unbeaten 31 off 10 balls. Writam Porel added 36 off 31 balls. Ramesh Prasad and Geet Puri took two wickets each for Sobisco Smashers Malda.

Sobisco Smashers Malda posted a competitive total of 173/7 in their allotted 20 overs. Anurag Tiwari and Subham Sarkar each claimed two wickets for Harbour Diamonds.

Match Highlights

Chasing the target, Harbour Diamonds struggled early on, losing half their side for just 47 runs within eight overs. Despite a valiant effort from Poonish Mehta, who scored 42 off 20 balls, they fell short, ending at 171/9 in 20 overs.

Sobisco Smashers Malda now lead the points table with five wins from six matches, totalling 10 points. Their consistent performance has been key to their success this season.

Harbour Diamonds' season has been disappointing, with no wins to their name. Their inability to secure points has left them at the bottom of the standings.

The contrasting fortunes of these teams highlight the unpredictable nature of T20 cricket. While Sobisco Smashers Malda have thrived, Harbour Diamonds have struggled to find form. With 10 points in five matches, the Smashers continue to remain on top of the points table with a healthy advantage.
