By MyKhel Staff

The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) has confirmed that the women's matches of the second edition of the Bengal Pro T20 League will be held at the MGR Sports Academy in Dubrajpur, located in the Birbhum district. The final of the women's competition, however, will take place at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

This move marks a significant step in CAB's ongoing efforts to expand the footprint of cricket across the state, particularly by enhancing opportunities for women cricketers. The MGR Sports Academy, known for its quality infrastructure and active cricketing culture, has been selected to host the majority of the women's fixtures.

CAB President Snehasish Ganguly expressed his enthusiasm about the decision, noting that taking the matches to Dubrajpur was a strategic choice aimed at broadening the game's reach in Bengal. "We are delighted to take the Bengal Pro T20 League women's matches to Dubrajpur. MGR Sports Academy offers excellent facilities and a passionate local cricket culture. It is important for us to expand the reach of the game across the state and ensure that every young cricketer, especially our talented women players, gets a platform to perform and inspire," he said.

Legendary Indian cricketer and mentor for women's cricket in Bengal, Jhulan Goswami, also praised the initiative. She described the opportunity as vital for the development of the sport. "It is a wonderful initiative by the CAB to take the women's matches of the Bengal Pro T20 League to Dubrajpur. Facilities like MGR Sports Academy provide a great environment for young players to experience competitive cricket. Opportunities like these are crucial for the growth of women's cricket in Bengal, and I am excited to see the talent that will emerge from this platform," Goswami remarked.

The upcoming edition of the Bengal Pro T20 League is expected to witness an expanded format featuring both men's and women's tournaments, with a clear focus on talent identification and grassroots development throughout the state.
