Bengal T20 League 2026: Howrah Warriors captain Shakir Habib Gandhi wants to Keep Things Simple as Defending Champions

As the Bengal T20 League commences its third season, the defending champions, Adamas Howrah Warriors have a huge task ahead.

After a scintillating second season in 2025, the Warriors are buoyant ahead of the new campaign as their captain Shakir Habib Gandhi wants to keep things simple.

"Last year, we took the field to play well and became champions last season. So it will be the same process this season as well. We don't want to take any extra pressure, that has been the talk with the boys as well. We don't want to do anything different," Gandhi said at the pre-tournament press conference on Thursday.

There have been speculations about SG ball, which is set to be introduced in the competition. And the Howrah captain thinks it won't be a huge difference maker throughout the course of the season.

"I don't think there will be too much of a difference. We play with SG balls in club matches and score runs. I don't think a lot of difference will be there," he added.

When it comes to the spectators at the Eden Gardens, the Howrah captain is confident that fans will be cheering his team in the upcoming season.

"I can't say about other teams, but I am sure that fans will be coming to cheer for us in the stadium. This is my third year with the franchise and I am confident about fans coming to support us," Gandhi said.

Adamas Howrah Warriors captain also confirmed a replacement in the side ahead of the season. B. Arun was initially roped in in the auction, but he has been ruled out with an issue, and Warriors have replaced him with Sachin Yadav.
