Bengaluru Weather Today: Rain washed out Day 1 play of the first between India and New Zealand at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Wednesday, October 16. Will rain play spoilsport on Day 2 as well?

Unlike Kanpur, the drainage system at Bengaluru's Chinnaswamy is world class. Day 1 play was abandoned in the afternoon because of the persisting drizzling. It also started to rain heavily once the official announcement was made.

The technicalities for the HawkEye system was also not completed due to the incessant rain in the city over the past few days. The installation of the system takes around 90 minutes, and that meant that even if the rain would have stopped, a good amount of time was needed to get the action going.

Chances are high. There is no rain forecast in Bengaluru until 11 AM when the precipitation level will rise to 45-50 percent. AccuWeather has predicted thunderstorms from 11:00 AM to 12:00 AM.

As per the website, the next spell of rain could be around 5:00 PM in the evening. Rain interruption could be expected again, but there will surely be some action on Day 2.

Rain stops play in 1st session

It started to rain at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium around 10:30 AM and they play had to be halted for 30-35 minutes. The lunch break was pushed to 12:00 PM from 11:30 AM.

• Evening session: 3:15 - 5:15 PM
