Best Bowling Figures in IPL 2024: Jasprit Bumrah Takes The Lead From Yash Thakur With Five-Wicket Haul

Mumbai Indians spearhead Jasprit Bumrah registered the best bowling figures in IPL 2024 after claiming a five-wicket haul against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in match 25 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Thursday (April 11).

Bumrah took the lead in the list with the dismissal of Virat Kohli, Faf Du Plessis, Mahipal Lomror, Saurav Chauhan and Vyshak Vijaykumar to end with figures of 5 for 21 in 4 overs.

With the latest fifer, Bumrah becomes the fourth bowler to claim two five-wicket hauls in Indian Premier League history. It was also his fourth 4-wicket or more haul in IPL history and the first-ever five-wicket haul by any bowler against RCB.

Earlier, Lucknow Super Giants pacer Yash Thakur had claimed the first fifer of the ongoing season in match 21 against Gujarat Titans in Lucknow on Sunday (April 7), ending with figures of 5 for 30. Here is a look at the top 10 bowling spells with most wickets in a innings in IPL 2024:

Before Bumrah and Thakur's fifer, Chennai Super Kings' Mustafizur Rahman had held the best bowling figures in IPL 2024 followed by Mumbai Indians' Gerald Coetzee, who had taken four wickets in the first match on Sunday (April 7) against Delhi Capitals in Mumbai.

Apart from these three spells, Yuzvendra Chahal, Ravindra Jadeja, Krunal Pandya and Mayank Yadav also feature in the best bowling spells of the season.

With the five-wicket haul against GT, Thakur had registered the second best figures by an LSG bowler in IPL history after England's Mark Wood, who had registered 5/14 in four overs against Delhi Capitals (DC) last year.

As it stands, West Indies pacer Alzarri Joseph has registered the best bowling figures in IPL history, having finished his spell at 6 for 12, representing Mumbai Indians in the 2019 season. Here is a look at the best bowling spells in IPL:
