India captain Suryakumar Yadav reserved special praise for Jasprit Bumrah after the pacer's match-winning spell helped India defeat New Zealand in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 final in Ahmedabad.
Following the victory, Suryakumar described Bumrah as a "national treasure", highlighting the fast bowler's influence on India's historic title win.

"Bumrah is a once-in-a-generation bowler. I can call him a national treasure. He knows how it needs to be done, he is the best in the business," Suryakumar said at the post-match presentation.
Bumrah produced a stunning performance with the ball in the title clash, finishing with figures of 4/15 from his four overs.
His spell proved decisive as New Zealand were bowled out for 159 while chasing India's imposing total of 255/5.
The right-arm pacer's performance earned him the Player of the Match award in the final and reinforced his reputation as one of the most influential bowlers in world cricket.
India's victory also created history in the tournament.
The win made India the first men's team to successfully defend the T20 World Cup title and also the first to lift the trophy on home soil.
Suryakumar's side completed a dominant campaign, winning eight of their nine matches during the tournament.
Reflecting on the journey, Suryakumar said the triumph was the result of two years of consistent progress following the 2024 T20 World Cup.
"I think it will take a little bit of time but definitely very happy. Been a long journey. Started post the 2024 World Cup. Jay Shah, Rohit bhai, they all showed faith in me and gave me the opportunity to lead," he said.
The captain also praised his teammates for stepping up on the biggest stage.
"We have been playing good cricket in the last two years and we just wanted to follow the good cricketing habits that we had in the 2024 World Cup. The boys took it really well."
India's batting unit set the tone in the final with a powerful display.
Sanju Samson top-scored with 89 off 46 balls, while Abhishek Sharma smashed a rapid 52 off 21 deliveries as the pair added 98 runs for the opening stand.
Ishan Kishan also contributed with a quickfire half-century as India piled up a massive 255/5 in front of a packed crowd in Ahmedabad.
With the bowlers led by Bumrah finishing the job, India sealed a comprehensive victory to cap off a memorable T20 World Cup campaign.
