Bharat Ratna for Sachin Tendulkar?

New Delhi, Jan 25: Just ahead of Republic Day (Jan 26), another feather is likely to be added to the cap of the master-blaster Sachin Tendulkar as rumours are abuzz that his name has been finalised for the Bharat Ratna award.

The Prime Minister Office (PMO) on Tuesday, Jan 25 still hasn't declared the name for the biggest honour for any Indian citizen - Bharat Ratna. It (PMO) will reportedly announce the ultimate decision by 6 pm on Tuesday.

Recently, during an interview, Member of Parliament (MP) Sanjay Nirupam stated, "We have strongly recommended your (Sachin) name for the Bharat Ratna, and we should know the result in a few days."

Though counter argument is rife among political circles against Sachin saying that the 37-year-old Tendulkar is "too young" to get the honour.

Sachin received the Padma Vibhushan award from President Pratibha Patil and the Indian Air Force (IAF) also honoured Sachin Tendulkar by conferring him with an honorary rank of Group Captain.

Reacting to the rumour, Sachin said, "It is a rare honour but I am focusing on cricket. If it has to happen, it will happen."
