In the IPL 2025 mega auction, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) made headlines by securing the services of veteran Indian pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
The seasoned swing bowler, who had been a cornerstone for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the past, was snapped up by RCB for a whopping Rs 10.75 crore, marking a major shift in the team's strategy to bolster their bowling unit.

RCB's decision to sign Bhuvneshwar Kumar signals their intent to address long-standing issues with their death bowling and powerplay effectiveness. Known for his impeccable control, ability to swing the ball both ways, and a world of experience, Bhuvneshwar is expected to add much-needed depth to an RCB lineup that has often struggled to deliver consistent performances with the ball.
The 34-year-old pacer, who has 181 IPL wickets to his name, remains one of the most reliable bowlers in T20 cricket. Bhuvneshwar's ability to strike early in the powerplay, combined with his pinpoint yorkers in the death overs, makes him a valuable asset for any side. Despite facing injury concerns in recent years, the swing maestro showcased his fitness and form in domestic tournaments, making him a hot pick in the auction.
RCB, often criticized for their trophy-less record despite boasting star-studded lineups, has taken bold steps to address gaps in their roster. With the addition of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, the team now has a strong pace trio featuring Yash Dayal, Josh Hazlewood, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
And as the pacer is currently in Bengaluru with the Uttar Pradesh team for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, he appeared at RCB for a brief photo shoot. He started his IPL journey with RCB and fans went in frenzy after seeing their favourite star in their favourite colours.
"Bhuvi's back in RCB, and it's like watching a king return to his throne! The swing is on, and we're ready to see those inswingers and outswingers dance," a fan wrote.
Many fans congratulated him on his homecoming, while another welcomed him mentioning RCB as the greatest team.
"Welcome to the greatest IPL team Bhuvi bhai @BhuviOfficial. Best wishes," the fan wrote.
But apart from the rosy comments, many pointed out Bhuvneshwar's gloom face. Some claimed the player was not happy with the RCB move, while some thought he only wanted to play at SRH.
