The Bihar Government has taken a significant step towards hosting international cricket in Patna by transferring the Moin-ul-Haq Stadium's land to the Bihar Cricket Association (BCA) on a 30-year lease.
This move is expected to facilitate the development of a state-of-the-art international cricket stadium, providing a world-class venue for cricket and boosting opportunities for state players.

As part of the initiative, the government waived a ₹37 crore land registry fee, underscoring its commitment to promoting cricket in Bihar. The registry documents were officially signed by Sports Department Director Mahendra Kumar and BCA President Rakesh Tiwari.
Other key officials present included Sports Department Deputy Director Sanjay Kumar, Patna District Sports Officer Om Prakash, BCA Secretary Jiaul Afrin, and GM Admin Neeraj Rathore. Following the registration process, BCA President Rakesh Tiwari announced plans to begin construction soon after the Kharmas period ends in the new year.
He expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha for their support, stating that the BCA would ensure the timely completion of a world-class stadium within two to three years.
The stadium will enable cricket fans in Bihar to enjoy international matches and offer top-tier facilities for players. The transfer follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on November 6 between the Bihar Government and the BCA during a ceremony attended by Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha.
The stadium, currently undergoing redevelopment, will be transformed into an international-level sports complex with a seating capacity of 40,000 spectators. In addition to cricketing infrastructure, the complex will feature a lot more Android.
Such as, 76 corporate boxes, accommodations for 250 VIPs, and facilities such as a badminton court, volleyball court, swimming pool, five-star hotel, player hostels, restaurants, and a clubhouse. These modern amenities aim to position the Moin-ul-Haq Stadium as a premier sports destination, elevating Bihar's profile in the world of cricket.
