Bindra happy to be Principal Advisor to ICC

Chandigarh, Mar 21 (UNI) Principal Advisor to ICC (Designate) IS Bindra today asserted that he was in no way disappointed at not being made the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) saying that his post has been created with the consent and approval of BCCI President Sharad Pawar.

Bindra emphasised that this job (Principal Advisor) gives him the ideal opportunity for fulfilling his vision and dream about the promotion of the game and it is globalization.

He will also be assisting the host Board in ensuring the smooth functioning of ICC events including the Cricket World Cups.

Bindra also ruled out any possibility of difference or conflict between him and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) designate Imtiaz Patel.

''I have a great respect for Mr. Patel. I am in touch with him and looking forward to an extremely cordial and constructive working relationship for achieving their common objective to make the cricket a truly global sport,'' Bindra told media persons here.

He further emphasized that through this assignment he would fulfill his present commitments in the country including making PCA Stadium, Mohali as one of the best cricketing facilities in the World.

As regards his appointment he said International Cricket Council (ICC) on the basis of the decision of the Executive Board offered to engage him in the role of Principal Advisor. ''I accepted the offer on compensation package to mutually agreed upon'' and added, ''Initial Term of the contract shall be for two years commencing from July this year.'' Bindra said status and compensation package will be worked out by the sub-committee constituted for the purpose of selection of CEO keeping in view the period to be spent in Dubai and keeping in view the stature of the post and his experience and background.

He will report to the ICC President and attend all ICC Meetings including the Board meetings.

According to the terms of the contract, the ICC will provide him an office, keeping in view the status of the post, in the new headquarters being at Sports City, Dubai. Till the new office is available, he will operate, as a stop gap arrangement, from the facilities available in Dubai.

As Principal Advisor, Bindra will advise and assist the Boards and the ICC in matters relating to the promotion and development of the game including implementing the vision of the ICC, development of the game of cricket particularly in USA and China and assisting in the improvement of relationship between the members of the ICC.
