IND vs AUS: Blame BCCI for loss in Adelaide! Ridiculous to play Pink Ball Test say Venkat Sundaram and Sunil Valson

Pink Ball Test, there was just no need for the BCCI to says yes to it in the BGT Series in Australia. As Indian went Down Under to the cocky Aussies in Adelaide on Sunday, the consensus is Pink Ball and a day/night Test is just not needed.

Critics and trolls will slam skipper Rohit Sharma, his lack of runs. Critics will castigate Harshit Rana for not bowling a proper length and how he should not have been chosen.

Pink Ball Test

No, if you have to criticise someone, it has to be the BCCI, which signed the death warrant by agreeing to a Pink Ball Test. To lose a day/night match after the win in Perth, Indian have lost momentum.

How and why the BCCI fell for this trap, again, is a mystery. The players and captains have no say, it's just the BCCI bigwigs. India never plays Pink Ball domestic cricket at home.

Why fall for a trap is the question which needs an answer. Just to jog the readers' memory, even when it came to embracing ODI cricket, India waited for a long time. They did not jump onto the ODI bandwagon.

"Where is the need to play Pink Ball Tests, it's a joke. It's good for the Aussie fans who can watch their team win over the weekend in Adelaide even as they are enjoying beer," said Venkat Sundaram, a veteran cricketer from Delhi. Venkat is now president of the Indian Cricketers Association.

"In India, nobody makes the Pink Ball, its either red or the white ball. This Pink Ball Test is nonsense and India should never agree to it again," added a visibly upset Venkat Sundaram, a well-known radio and TV commentator and pitch curator.

Sharing the same sentiment, Sunil Valson, a member of the Indian team which won the 1983 World Cup said this Pink Ball thing is not needed. "We have allowed Australia to bounce back. Nobody uses the Pink Ball in India, so how do our bowlers adapt to it. The whole thing is unnecessary, we don't use tit in domestic cricket. This just suits the Aussies," said Valson.

It is well known India had resisted the Pink Ball Test for a long time. That the Indian bowlers struggled to bowl with a soft ball with it was apparent, even though Jasprit Bumrah and Mohd Siraj were outstanding on Saturday. Yes, the Indian batters were bamboozled by the Aussie fast bowlers who used swing and lateral movement because they have mastered the Pink Ball.

On Saturday, coach Morne Morkel spoke on how Indian bowlers struggled with the Pink Ball as it became soft. So, if this is the truth, why is the BCCI agreeing to such rubbish cricket. There has been considerable debate now generated on this subject, which shows Indian cricket not in the pink of health. This form of cricket is not what the doctor had ordered.

Sadly, the Indian commentators who wield microphones are not speaking the truth on why India should not be playing Pink Ball cricket at all. This one defeat has changed the whole narrative, where Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli get abused, the bowlers are taunted.

Imagine, someone as creative as R.Ashwin struggled with the Pink Ball, which tells you so much about it. There has to be a proactive role from the BCCI forward.

President Roger Binny is a dummy and after Jay Shah has moved to the ICC as chairman, now there is only an acting secretary. If cricket is a professional sport and its office bearers are paid handsome salaries, they better wake up and smell the coffee. Never play Pink Ball Tests again in Australia or India, it's just not needed.

And what about the incident involving Mohd Siraj and Travis Head? Are we running down our own India fast bowler who bowled his heart out? Was he abusive or Head? The Aussie accent is lousy and hard to comprehend. And they have indulged in sledging for decades.

Plus, the crowd got going into the act in Adelaide. Salute Siraj for needling Head and giving him a good send-off. Head was abusive, and there is suggestion he used the "F bomb." If you check the conversation between Harbhajan Singh and Siraj on Star Sports, it becomes clear the bowler is not at fault.
