Blessing Muzarabani snubs PSL after KKR Deal for IPL 2026, PCB planning Legal Action

By MyKhel Staff

Just a day after signing for the Kolkata Knight Riders, Zimbabwe pacer Blessing Muzarabani finds himself in a spot of bother.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is escalating tensions by threatening legal action against the Zimbabwean fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani for prioritizing IPL 2026 with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) over his Pakistan Super League (PSL) commitment.

Blessing Muzarabani chooses IPL over PSL after KKR Deal PCB threaten to take Legal Action

KKR rope in Blessing Muzarabani

KKR swiftly signed the towering 6 ft 8 in pacer as a replacement for Mustafizur Rahman, who was released earlier on BCCI instructions amid India-Bangladesh diplomatic strains. This move bolsters KKR's pace attack, already hit by injuries to Harshit Rana and Matheesha Pathirana, ahead of IPL starting March 28, 2026. Muzarabani, with a prior IPL net-bowling stint for LSG and a stint with RCB, brings bounce and experience to the defending champions.

PCB's Contract Breach Claim

As per Geo Super, the PCB is exploring options to send a legal notice against Muzarabani after he has withdrawn from the PSL.

Muzarabani had inked a deal worth PKR 11 million with Islamabad United as a replacement for Shamar Joseph after going unsold in the PSL auction. He withdrew after IPL offer, prompting PCB outrage and plans for legal recourse to safeguard PSL integrity. Reports indicate PCB views this as a violation, similar to last season's case.

This echoes South African Corbin Bosch's exit from Peshawar Zalmi for Mumbai Indians, earning him a one-year PSL ban and fine. IPL's massive financial incentives, global viewership, and prestige often lure players away from PSL.

Blessing Muzarabani had a Stellar T20 World Cup

The 29-year-old pacer was excellent for his country in the T20 World Cup 2026. Zimbabwe qualified for the Super Eights and Muzarabani picked up 13 wickets across the matches, which included a 4/17 against Australia in the group stages. Muzarabani has never played an IPL match but was part of RCB in the IPL 2025 season.
