Borde, Venkat among six captains invited by BCCI

Mumbai, Mar 29 (UNI) The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has invited Chandu Borde and S Venkatraghavan among six former captains to interact with the board's office bearers here on April 6.

These two along with Sunil Gavaskar, Ravi Shastri, K Srikkanth and the sole World Cup winning India captain Kapil Dev will interact with the BCCI bosses and guide then on revitalising the national team after India's dismal World Cup outing.

''We will first meet World Cup skipper Rahul Dravid, coach Greg Chappell and manager Sanjay Jagdale (also a national selection panel member) before having the discussion with the six former captains,'' said BCCI secretary Niranjan Shah.

The BCCI's all-powerful Working Committee is to meet the next day to take a final call on the matter, including appointment of a new coach in case the members decide not to renew the contract of Greg Chappell after April.

The players' contracts are also expected to come up for discussion at the Working Committee meeting and in the wake of India's shock first round exit in the caribbeans, it would be interesting to see the outcome of this contentious matter between the players and the administrators of the game.
