Australia's miserable defeat at the hands of India in the first Test has prompted them to take a swift action.
The visitors are on their way to Delhi for the 2nd Test which starts on February 17. And ahead of that, they have called up left-arm spinner Matthew Kuhnemann.
Kuhnemann is being brought in as a replacement for legspinner Mitchell Swepson who is set to leave the touring squad for the birth of his child.
Matthew Kuhnemann is a 26-year-old left-arm spinner who hails from Queensland. He has represented the Aussie U-19 side in the past and has done reasonably well for them in the BBL and domestic tournaments. Kuhnemann is yet to play a Test match, but has represented Australia in 4 ODIs. He has 6 wickets so far in his international career.
Australia are set to take some steps to fare better in the 2nd Test in Delhi. After a monumental collapse in the second innings in Nagpur, the Aussies will have to come back stronger to keep their hopes alive in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
Kuhnemann will be in the reckoning for the Delhi Test if Australia opt to tinker their spin combination. Todd Murphy was handed a debut in the Nagpur Test and he responded with 7 wickets. They already have left-arm spinner Ashton Agar in the squad, but the visitors opted to go without him in Nagpur.
