Border-Gavaskar Trophy Heats Up: Mitchell Starc Warns Harshit Rana ‘I Bowl Faster Than You’ in Fiery Exchange

By MyKhel Staff

The Border-Gavaskar Trophy is off to an explosive start, with tensions flaring during Day 2 of the first Test at Perth Stadium. Indian debutant Harshit Rana and Australian pace spearhead Mitchell Starc locked horns in a thrilling contest, exchanging short balls and fiery words.

Rana, bowling with intensity, delivered a barrage of short-pitched deliveries to Starc in the morning session. Coming around the wicket, Rana generated a significant bounce off the lively Perth track, troubling the Australian lower order.

In the 30th over, a well-directed short ball from Rana caught Starc off guard, producing an edge that fell short of second slip. The Indian pacer, brimming with confidence, stuck his tongue out in celebration, narrowly missing his second Test wicket.

Starc, however, was quick to respond. The left-arm pacer, known for his competitive spirit, turned to his former Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) teammate and said, "I bowl faster than you. I have a long memory." The comment, delivered with a smile, seemed as much a warning as a promise of retaliation.

Rana, unfazed, continued his fiery spell. Just a few overs later, he delivered another short ball that struck Starc on the helmet. Displaying sportsmanship, Rana immediately rushed to check on Starc, which was followed by further light-hearted banter.

Despite the verbal exchanges, Starc praised Rana in the post-day press conference, acknowledging his skill. "The ball to Travis Head was a beauty. He's got good stuff, and it's clear he has potential in red-ball cricket," said Starc.

He referencing Rana's dismissal of Head on Day 1. The match itself has been a gripping affair. After a dramatic first day saw 17 wickets fall, India's bowlers fought back fiercely on Day 2.

Skipper Jasprit Bumrah, leading the charge, dismissed Alex Carey early, while Rana added Nathan Lyon to his tally with a short ball. However, Starc's defiant knock kept Australia in the contest, with India holding a slender lead of 46 runs after the first innings.
