Border-Gavaskar Trophy: Marnus Labuschagne reveals one factor which gives India benefit in Australian Conditions

By MyKhel Staff

The build-up for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 continues, and Australia batting star Marnus Labuschagne has revealed what makes India's an extremely competitive side in Australian conditions.

Marnus Labuschagne echoed the thoughts of pacer Michell Starc, who recently compared the Border-Gavaskar Trophy trophy to Ashes, and reckoned that there is always a high pressure on the two sides when they clash against each other.

“Both Australia and India, love the game and, they're at the top of their game at the moment. I mean the energy when these two teams play together is always high. There's always high anticipation. To these two teams, it doesn't matter where we're playing, if it's in England, Australia, or India, it's always a tough contest," Marnus Labuschagne told Star Sports.

Further, the right-hand batter revealed what makes India an extremely competitive side in Australian conditions. He gave the Indian pace unit the credit, saying that they make it tough to beat India in Australia.

Notably, India have emerged victorious in their last two Test tours of Australia. In 2018-19 they became the first side to win a Test series in Australia. In 2020-21, an Ajinkya Rahane-led Indian team won their second consecutive Test series in Australia, and Rohit Sharma's India are now eyeing a hat-trick of wins down under.

"India's fast bowling is very good, which is really what brings them in Australian conditions and make them such a tough team to beat in Australian conditions. Hopefully this summer we can turn the tables on India and put them under real pressure," Labuschagne added.

For now, India are gearing up for a home Test series against Bangladesh. They will face New Zealand in October, before flying to Australia in November. Australia are involved in a T20I series against Scotland, and will leave for England for T20I and ODI series thereafter.
