The 12th edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL 2025-26) kicks off on December 26, 2025, and runs until the final on January 23, 2026.

This season features a revamped lineup with just six teams, down from seven last year, aiming for a more compact and competitive tournament amid efforts to address past issues like player payments and integrity concerns.

BPL 2025-26 Teams

The participating teams are: Chattogram Royals, Dhaka Capitals, Noakhali Express (a brand-new franchise), Rajshahi Warriors, Rangpur Riders, and Sylhet Titans.

Notably, defending champions Fortune Barishal and Khulna Tigers are absent, while several franchises have new ownership and branding.

A total of 34 matches will be played in a double round-robin league stage (30 games) followed by playoffs: an Eliminator, two Qualifiers, and the grand final.

Venues include Sylhet International Cricket Stadium (opening phase), Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram, and Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka (later stages and playoffs).

The squads blend top Bangladeshi stars like Litton Das, Towhid Hridoy, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Taskin Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman, and Mahedi Hasan with international talent such as Alex Hales, Johnson Charles, Dasun Shanaka, and Angelo Mathews. However, overlaps with leagues like the BBL, ILT20, and SA20 mean fewer big overseas names overall.

Despite some last-minute drama-including the BCB taking temporary control of Chattogram Royals due to sponsorship the tournament promises exciting T20 action and serves as crucial preparation for Bangladesh players ahead of the 2026 T20 World Cup. The opening day features Sylhet Titans up against Rajshahi Warriors followed by Noakhali Express taking on Chattogram Royals in Sylhet.
