BPL 2025: Fortune Barishal registered an emphatic seven-wicket victory over Sylhet Strikers in the 12th match of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2025 at the Sylhet International Stadium on January 7.

This victory propelled Barishal to second place on the points table with six points from four matches, including three wins and one loss. Meanwhile, the home team, Sylhet Strikers, endured their third consecutive defeat, leaving them languishing at the bottom of the table.

Electing to field first at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, Barishal's bowlers put on a commanding display to restrict the Strikers to 125 runs in 18.2 overs. Jahandad Khan was the star of the innings, earning the Player of the Match honour for his outstanding spell of 3/18. He dismissed George Munsey (28), Aaron Jones (0), and Jaker Ali (1), effectively breaking the backbone of Sylhet's batting lineup. Rishad Hossain also contributed significantly, claiming 3/15. Skipper Ariful Haque's fighting 36 off 29 balls remained the only notable contribution for Sylhet.

In response, Fortune Barishal made quick work of the modest target, reaching 126/3 in just 10.3 overs with 57 balls to spare. Opener Kyle Mayers led the charge with a blistering 59* off 31 balls, including five fours and four sixes, while Towhid Hridoy played a vital supporting role, smashing 48 off 27 deliveries. The duo's 116-run partnership for the third wicket dismantled Sylhet's bowling attack, ensuring a comfortable chase. Tanzim Hasan Sakib picked up two wickets for the Strikers, but it wasn't enough to stem the tide.
