BPL 2025: Khulna Tigers secured a thrilling six-wicket victory over the Sylhet Strikers in a last-over finish at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram on Thursday.
The win propelled the Tigers to fourth place in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) points table, keeping their playoff hopes alive. Meanwhile, the Sylhet Strikers remain at the bottom, struggling to find form this season.

Opting to bat first, Sylhet Strikers posted a modest total of 152/9 in their 20 overs, with George Munsey's explosive 58 off 32 balls providing the foundation. Munsey smashed six boundaries and four sixes, while Zakir Hasan contributed a solid 44 off 32 balls. However, the rest of the batting lineup failed to capitalize, as Khulna's bowlers kept striking at regular intervals. Mehidy Hasan Miraz, the standout performer, returned figures of 1/40 and took three crucial catches, while Abu Hider (2/27) and Salman Irshad (2/24) ensured the Strikers couldn't build momentum.
In response, Khulna Tigers chased the target of 153 with one ball to spare, finishing at 156/4 in 19.5 overs. Captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz led from the front with a sublime 70 off 50 balls, smashing eight fours and two sixes. His innings set the tone for the chase, with support from Mohammad Naim (20) and a composed finish by Alex Ross (20*) and William Bosisto (19*). Despite a valiant effort by Sylhet's bowlers, including Nihaduzzaman (2/25) and Sumon Khan (1/29), Khulna held their nerve in the final overs.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz was deservingly named Player of the Match for his all-round brilliance, scoring a match-defining half-century, picking up a wicket, and contributing key moments in the field. His efforts ensured Khulna Tigers earned two vital points, breathing life into their campaign.
