BPL 2025: The Rangpur Riders continued their stellar form in the Bangladesh Premier League 2025, registering their fifth consecutive victory with a commanding seven-wicket win over Dhaka Capitals in Sylhet.

The Riders, now sitting comfortably at the top of the table, showcased a complete team performance to hand the struggling Capitals their fourth straight defeat, leaving them at the bottom of the standings.

Opting to field first, the Riders' bowlers dismantled the Capitals' batting lineup, restricting them to a modest 111 in 16.3 overs. Nahid Rana delivered a match-winning spell, taking 3/21 and earning the Player of the Match award. He was ably supported by Kamrul Islam Rabbi and Akif Javed, who claimed two wickets each. The Capitals' top scorer, Tanzid Hasan, managed 20 runs, but their innings never gained momentum, with seven batters failing to cross double digits.

Chasing 112, the Riders' batting lineup, led by Alex Hales, made short work of the target. Hales played a blistering knock of 44 off 27 balls, including four boundaries and three sixes, to surpass teammate Saif Hassan as the tournament's leading run-scorer. He also became the first batter this season to cross the 200-run mark. Khushdil Shah added an explosive unbeaten 27 off 13 balls, sealing the win with 40 balls to spare.

The victory further solidifies Rangpur Riders' status as early favorites for the title. Their balanced team combination, featuring impactful performances from both batters and bowlers, has been the cornerstone of their unbeaten run.

For the Dhaka Capitals, the loss exposed glaring issues in their batting order, with a lack of partnerships and poor strike rotation proving costly. Captain Thisara Perera's duck and Litton Das' slow knock underlined their struggles. With four losses in as many matches, the Capitals face an uphill task to salvage their season.

As the Riders surge ahead with a perfect record, the Capitals will need a drastic turnaround to avoid becoming the league's underperformers. The two teams' contrasting fortunes highlight the unpredictable yet enthralling nature of the BPL.
