Brett Lee talks about Rohit Sharma's captaincy: 'To be very honest...'

By MyKhel Staff

Brett Lee extended a congratulatory message to Rohit Sharma and his team for winning the T20 World Cup 2024 in Barbados last month. The former Australia pacer reckoned that India played the perfect brand of T20 cricket during the ICC showpiece event.

Brett Lee admitted that India looked a very strong unit under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma. He added that India captain Rohit Sharma led from the front which boosted the confidence of his teammates.

“Big, big congratulations to India. Firstly, it was really good to see them and the emotion on the faces of those cricketers. Virat and Rohit have moved on from the game. There were players from the Australian cricket team who also hung up their boots. So, it was a swansong for a number of players from different countries around the world," Brett Lee told The Times of India.

"One thing I will say is that India played the perfect style of cricket in the T20 World Cup. They looked like a strong side, to be very honest. Massive congratulations to Rohit Sharma and the Indian team. He led from the front in the tournament," he added.

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are enjoying time away from cricket after retiring from T20Is after the T20 World Cup 2024. A young Indian side defeated Zimbabwe 4-1 in a T20I series just after the T20 World Cup 2024.

The Men in Blue will now travel to Sri Lanka for three T20Is and three ODIs starting July 27. Gautam Gambhir, the newly-appointed coach of the Indian cricket team, will start his tenure with the tour. It remains to be seen if Rohit and Virat make themselves available for the ODI leg.
